Library

I ended up focusing on  a few people, but most of the images turned out becoming something I was not exactly proud of. However I ended up with at least one fairly decent sketch.  It seemed that re-using a pencil takes a little more used to as it's a lot more flexible than the pen.

  1. I hear you about "relearning" the pencil! I had a hard time with it myself. These are definitely improved though-- I really like the woman filing books.

  2. Bert,
These are pretty decent. The seated figure has good structure and the most convincing weight shift (upper body). All of these, however, are basically profile drawings. Mix it up with 3/4 poses, near frontal, etc.
Also, when you start shading in an area of your drawing, ask yourself "Why am I shading THIS particular area ?"
Is it to ground the figure ?
Is it to emphasize weight shift ?
Is it to establish a value pattern based off the lighting in the drawing ?

Your overall technique is good - think more about the pose and making conscious decisions about shading.
