Oh my birds! Spend no more than 20 seconds on each. Birds are actually very fun to draw, perhaps it's attributed to their easy to draw shape, or perhaps I'm not as worried as messing up a bird as say a person, allowing for a faster more gestural sketch. I'll try applying the same logic to people.

Conservatory
I ended up using my ink brush pen this time around seeing how we were allowed to use any medium we wished. I feel that going to the conservatory was a good experience and in the long run and I may go there again.

Something to do with instruments
I ended up starting to like the more "doodly" style, however I like to finish up sketches after I have a good idea of what I want everything to look like.

I found out what is going on with my posts: It appears that instead of posting them, when the internet connection is poor it ends up saving them as drafts rather than simply posting them.
Today I ended up staying behind because I had managed to lock myself outside of my room. I wandered around campus and nearby locations and settled on drawing cafe goers in the Crane. Later I went around looking for people doing homework and participating in various activities.

Northmarket (again)
Alot of today's sketches were really more or less preliminary gestures, but I was able to get in a few more "complete" sketches. One issue I kept running into was the constant need to sharpen the pencil even when i held it at a tilt causing alot of the lines to come out less than crisp. If things keep up, soon I might only have pencil nubs remaining.

Black Pencil
Using the black pencil more and more and drawing with an almost brushlike movement makes it easy to completely darken a portion of an image with very little effort. I also started attempting to draw similar poses to see the differences between now and then.

Nov 10
I ended up doing quite a few gestural drawings before I started drawing more filled in figures, I found that quickly blocking in shadows with the side of the pencil made short work of the task.

Nov 8
Today I used primarily dark graphite and a black pastelstick
While looking around, less and less people are going outside after dinner because of the weather, however there is still a substantial number. However, there are alot more people running from place to place to avoid staying outside longer than absolutely needed, or perhaps to get to the next class on time.
I went back and started doing more gestural drawings with the pastel stick and actually liked where it was going, I'll likely start trying to build up from those now.

(of course we got those guys who seem to act as if the school food requires safety gear to properly handle)

Shades of brown
I was unfortunately not feeling well today, but I ended up doing a few sketches using a dark brown pencil. There wasn't much to draw so this might as well be a place holder for later. I'm still feeling fatigued and unwell, hoping to feel better later today.

Hands
Oddly, hands seem to have become easier for me to draw. I spent a relative short amount of time drawing each individual hand. I tried using ink and tried using some pastels for the assignment, I ended up using the set drawn with soft graphite.

(repost) Union Centre
Quite a few times I ended up redrafting some of the figures that did not move. Other times I just took glances and drew what I could remember. I'm trying to use looser movements then darkening up lines later, however I suppose simply getting the gesture would be far more appropriate.
Relating to posts: I seem to be having some amount of problems posting.. I leave the computer to allow it time to post and I end up coming back to it having an odd message about "Edits" even when i use the "new post" tab. Trying to figure out why posts are working sometimes and why they're failing at other times.
Having issues:
Conflicting edits
There was more than one attempt to edit this resource at the same time. This may have been because you double clicked on a link or a button or because someone else is also editing this blog or post.Unsure why I keep getting this when I try posting, but I'll repost yesterday's work again to see if it works this time.

Back to Ink
I went around and asked a few people how they did their gesture sketches and came up with many different answers. One of them said "you did it wrong if you pickedup the pen." Many people said to start with the spine and block out the chest. I tried a lot of different things, ended up with a few nice gestures that I was able to darken up lines in to give a definite idea of the figure..
Also I figured out that it seems that I was using an old link instead of using "new post" apparently that caused wednesday's post to overright the second class's day.

NorthMarket2
I just found out something had prevented me from posting this the first time arround. I have no idea why it didn't make it onto the page, but I'm posting it now.
(edit, looking through the north market posts, I seemed to have accidentally edited an old post on wednesday, http://cafedoodle.blogspot.com/2010/09/day-2.html
I am not sure what happened or what the original post was however..

Started off a little rough and started gaining a bit momentum and tried to keep all drawings under about 5-10 minutes. However drawing the hands became a bit difficult because of how small they were and the "ending the gesture" seemed to have occured a few times. However, I think I'm getting better at doing gesture poses and needing to rely less on "guides"

Freeday IV
Drawing alot of people on the streets today, trying to focus more on drawing details without spending too much time, I started drawing faces and more detailed hair. However today was once again raining and it limited where exactly I could draw. Trying to emphasis lines more.
